Writing Activity

Description: We have to write a short story using a variety of conjunctions to create a picture in the audiences mind. We had to Imagine we had stumbled into an abandoned place in your dream. Elly gave us three photos that we could choose from. This is my picture that I chose and the description to go with it.




Boulders fallen. Walls still crumbling. Damp land all around me. Branches were clawing at the wooden buildings as cracking noises came from all around. Stumbling across the ruined mess. The ground jumped as boulders cam tumbling down destroying mossy stone. I saw a dark hollow door. What was inside I questioned myself. Looking up I dodged three enormous boulders crashing to the ground to the dusty, unstable road. I felt like something was going to squash me down deep into the dirty earth.

Science Portfolio Sample

Description: Poutama decided to start doing science. We have been put into groups and are learning about all different types of food webs. I did not know about how the food had to go through all that process before making it to the supermarket.




Big Idea: In science we have been learning about food webs and how food is made. We learnt about how we rely on the sun and that if you took something away it would affect everything that needs it.

Feedback/Feedfoward: I think you have some really nice pictures. You must of put a lot of effort into it. Next time you could maybe go over it with vivid. Georgia :)

Evaluation: I think I could label the pictures so that everyone actually knows what they are of. I think my poster looks great.

Catch Me If You Can - Defence

Description:
Every week we learn about skills and movement that will help us play sports. This term’s focus has been around defense. We made a video showing some of the goals we have been practicing. I have highlighted the thing I think I have done well YELLOW and one thing I would like to work on PINK.


Body:
WALT: Defensive skills and movements
Success Criteria:
Body Movement
  • Weight on balls of feet
  • Feet shoulder width apart
  • Knees flexed
  • Concentration and eyes on ball, head and eyes up
  • Push hard off outside foot and go forwards to attack pass
  • Quick small feet, stay on balls of feet
  • Arms within confines of body
  • Take feet to ball
  • Land with a SBP
Intercepting
  • Body angled to see player and ball
  • Anticipate pass and player movement
Restrictive Marking
  • Meet player as they start towards the ball/where they want to go
  • Stay close to the attacking player
  • Head and eyes up, arms close to body to avoid obstruction/contact
  • Angle body so attacking player is ‘pushed’ away from where he/she wants to go
  • 0.9m from ball carrier

















Evaluation: I think I did a great job for my video. The filming was great. I think I showed great Intercepting and Defending. I think I showed this very well. Next time I could get my video done on time so I could do more editing to it. I think I need to show my catch me if you can skills a lot better in the video. I showed great defending and intercepting because I was in front of the player and defending the ball from where the player wanted it to go.

Feedback/Feedfoward: The filming was good but I wasn't sure what the movie was about. It would be good to have a title screen at the beginning or a voiceover to explain what it is about. Once you had told me then I thought it was very good. - Mum (Philippa)

Discovery Time

This Discovery Time I was learning how to make a song on garage band. I did it as a group. I think we did pretty well. For the Discovery times before this, I did sewing. I thought I could do something different. It is pretty hard to think of a song. So I do not think I will be doing it again. It was a real challenge.

I.N.G Verbs

Today we learnt about I.N.G Verbs and putting them at the front of our sentences. 

Task: We have to complete 6 sentences. All the sentences have to start with a word that ends with I.N.G. 

Sentence: Arriving by moonlight, there were three of us. 

Here is my work.

Panting, I heard the trotting noises come closer. Starting back up again, I came to a small rickety and dusty village. Walking along, I heard faint sweet music that was playing in the distance. Racing along the path I saw a old man outside singing. Watching him eagerly, He suddenly stopped and grabbed me and pulled me into his house. Standing there shocked he pulled out something that looked round, smooth and colourful.
