Science Sample

W.A.L.T: Show our understanding of how energy works. We have been learning about energy. To show our learning, we have made a movie to show how energy works.
What: Make a video (no longer than 30 seconds) about our understanding of energy.i.e. States of Matter, Potential and Kenetic Energy, Newtons Cradle or forms of energy like Radiation, Convection or Coduction.
Why: To show what we know about how energy works, to share during our Stundent Led Conference.
When: Week 6
Who: I am going to show it to the people who go on my blog so that I have evidence that I know about energy and how it works.
Feedback/Feedfoward:
Great post Rosalind. It is good to use equipment to demonstrate your understanding. It helps others to see what you mean. I wonder if next time you might use the voice over feature to make your talking easier to hear.

Writing Sample

W.A.L.T: Inform. Here is a writing sample that I have been working on about the three states of matter, Radiation, Convection and Conduction. Our focus this term was about how to act like a real scientist.
What: We have done some writing to show some evidence of what we know.  We are publishing a piece of writing.
Why: We have done this because we want to learn more about science and more about it. Also to share our blog during our Student Led Coference.
Description: Write an explanation about some thing you have learnt about energy.
When: I did this post in Week 6
Who: I am going to show this to the world so they can see that I know about this stuff and I can move on to a different part of science.
Feedback/Feedfoward: I think that you have done a great job. You should be proud of what you learnt.

Heat and Temperature

Heat and Temperature are not the same because heat is just hot but temperature can be cold or hot. Hot and cold id thermal energy. For example if I was I a freezer. Then if I wanted to be by the heater I would be wanting to get to the same temperature because I would have been cold before.

People use a thermometer to see how cold and hot things are. So for another example if you put two index fingers in warm
water and one in cold water then put them both in a normal temperature if water. It would be very hard for your fingers to get to the same.

We put a thermometer outside to see what the temperature was. It was 10. Then when we started

holding it, it went up to 30.

Newtons Cradle

How does a Newton's Cradle Work? A Newton's Cradle works like this. If you pull a ball and then let it go. Then it will create some kinetic energy. There are five balls and when you let it go it will create

energy to go through the balls and the last one will be effected.

Every action has an opposite reaction. If you lifted a ball up and then dropped it, it would hit the other four balls. It would create energy to take a reaction and the last ball will fly through the air.

The balls are held on with string. The balls are metal so when the clang together they make a nice sound and will not break. That is how one works. But what is it made out of? A Newton's Cradle is

made out of:
  • String
  • Metal
  • Science
The Newton's Cradle was made by a man called Newton. He did not know how to
A Newton's Cradle. So he made a diagram to show his evidence.

  • use a range of verbs (evaporate, melt, etc.)
  • use a variety of specific vocabulary (matter, solid, liquid, gas)
  • add significant detail to describe each part (examples, diagram, giff)
  • vary sentence starters
  • organise my ideas into at least 5 paragraphs

Mnemonic Sample

Here is my mnemonic. We could do it off our spelling words but I just had thought of this word. A mnemonic is something where you choose a word and then you use it in a way that it makes a sentence of words starting with the letters of the word you choose. W.A.L.T: Rote Learn(learn off by heart). The purpose of doing this was so that I can learn what a mnemonic is. I did this poster by using pic collage the app. The app creates great and cool looking posters. I learnt what a mnemonic was and how you make one. I think I did a great job but I think I need to work on choosing a spelling word. Another purpose that I thought of was the purpose is so that I learn my spelling words. Feedback/Feedfoward: I think that you did a great job. Emma. I want to show to people in the world that I know what a mnemonic is. I did this poster in week five.

Naughty Poster

Here is a naughty poster that I had to do. I had to do it about me doing something naughty or something that someone else has done naughty that I have seen them do. I am doing this poster to show what things I have done naughty in my life. W.A.L.T: Show what things you have done naughty in your life.
Feedback: Wow Rosalind that is amazing poster. What was I doing naughty? Well I was grabbing the taxi vans L&P and pretending to drink it.
